Essential Information About the Gibson Les Paul Custom 70s Guitar

  • The "Custom" Spirit of the Seventies: luxurious look, multi-ply binding, and gold hardware, in a Les Paul designed for the stage.

  • 70s-Style Construction: mahogany body + 3-piece maple top for a sharper attack and great definition.

  • Maple Neck with 70s Profile and Volute: a more "vintage" feel in the hand, with excellent stability.

  • Two Calibrated T-Type Humbuckers: warm, powerful, and precise tone, with separate controls to shape your sound.

A High-End Les Paul Custom Revived by Gibson USA

Introduced in the early 1950s as the premium version of the Les Paul, the Custom established itself as the "tuxedo guitar." After various evolutions and a significant shift in the 1970s (production in Nashville and modernized specifications), Gibson today brings back this aesthetic and design approach with the Les Paul Custom 70s, designed to recapture the feel and look of that decade while remaining perfectly contemporary.

Who Is It For, and What Styles?

The Gibson Les Paul Custom 70s is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an expressive, stable, and rewarding electric guitar for daily use and on stage. It excels in rock, hard rock, blues, classic rock, and all genres where dense riffs, singing solos, and generous sustain are desired. Thanks to the 2 volumes and 2 tones, it easily transitions from a tight crunch to a smoother lead without losing its identity.

Sound

The mahogany + maple combination offers a rich and warm foundation with a clearer attack and better note definition, especially useful when overdriven. The two calibrated T-Type humbuckers deliver a balanced output level and a vintage-modern tonal character: full lows, present mids, and defined highs, perfect for highlighting both chordal and single-note playing. Hand-wired circuitry and Orange Drop capacitors provide a smooth tone response, useful for rounding off a harsh sound or opening up the spectrum during rhythm playing.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

Delivered in a hard case, this Les Paul is ready for rehearsals and travel. To complete your setup securely, a strap is recommended to fully benefit from the Posi-Lok strap locks and play standing with confidence.
