The essentials to know about the Gibson Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble Vintage Cherry Sunburst Gloss guitar
- Limited edition: "Double Trouble" series with vintage aesthetics, limited production of 500 units per color
- Authentic 50s look: subtle hand-sprayed Vintage glossy nitrocellulose finish with natural fading (each guitar is slightly unique)
- Big Les Paul sound: pair of Burstbucker 1 (neck) / Burstbucker 2 (bridge) with Alnico 2 magnets, in open-coil version with Double Classic White bobbins
- Premium non-weight-relieved construction: solid mahogany body + AA figured maple top, classic ABR-1 hardware + aluminum Stop Bar
A 50s Les Paul with a "naturally aged" charm, in a special series
The Les Paul Standard 50s Double Trouble follows the recipe of the Standard 50s: traditional construction, "50s neck" feel, and Gibson's sonic DNA, while adding two strong features. On one hand, its Burstbuckers are left open with Double Classic White bobbins for a decidedly vintage style. On the other hand, the "Vintage" glossy nitrocellulose lacquer finish shows slight fading mimicking natural aging, delivering a softer and more authentic look than a "new period" tint.
For whom, and for which styles?
This Les Paul is aimed at the intermediate to expert guitarist seeking a versatile electric guitar with a strong character, equally comfortable in rock, blues, classic rock, hard rock, and more powerful pop. Its 50s Vintage neck profile offers a generous grip, ideal for full chords, expressive bends, and sustained lines typical of Les Paul tones.
The sound
The combination of a non-weight-relieved mahogany body and a figured maple top delivers this signature blend: a warm, dense, and mid-rich foundation with a sharper attack and better definition thanks to the maple. The Burstbucker 1 (neck) and Burstbucker 2 (bridge) with Alnico 2 magnets provide open, dynamic, and very "vintage PAF" tones: a round and singing neck pickup for bluesy leads, and a sharper bridge pickup for riffs and solos that need to cut through the mix. Hand wiring, audio taper potentiometers, and Orange Drop capacitors ensure smooth volume and tone response, perfect for sculpting the tone without losing expressiveness.
