The Essentials to Know About the Gibson Les Paul Studio Session Guitar

  • Les Paul Spirit, Modernized Comfort: mahogany body with "Ultra Modern" weight relief and "Modern Contoured" heel for smooth access to the upper frets.

  • Premium Finish: AA figured maple cap and glossy nitrocellulose lacquer for a high-end vintage look and feel.

  • XXL Sound Versatility: '57 Classic and '57 Classic+ humbuckers with push/pull volume and tone controls (split, phase, bypass) to switch from articulate clean tones to heavy crunch.

  • Ready to Play: stable Grover Rotomatic tuners and soft case included for everyday transport.

A Studio Redesigned for the Demands of Today's Guitarists

The Les Paul Studio Session carries the DNA of the Les Paul Studio (efficiency, simplicity, sound) while adding refinements requested by musicians: a more modern ergonomics, a selection of more "premium" woods and finishes, and above all electronics designed to multiply tonal options without leaving the instrument. It remains a true Les Paul in feel and sound density, but with a more contemporary approach, ideal for both studio and stage.

For Whom, and In Which Styles?

This Gibson is especially aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a Les Paul capable of covering many genres with a single instrument. Rock, blues, hard rock, pop, funk (with coil split), indie, worship, multi-track recording: the Studio Session feels at home wherever a rich humbucker foundation is expected, but with the ability to gain clarity, bite, or finesse via the push/pull controls. The SlimTaper neck profile promotes quick playability, and the sculpted heel facilitates solos beyond the 12th fret.

The Tone

The mahogany + maple duo is one of the Les Paul signatures: mahogany provides a full low-midrange, sustain, and natural compression, while the AA figured maple top adds attack, definition, and a more present upper midrange. The "Ultra Modern" weight relief improves comfort without compromising the massive and singing character expected in this format. Regarding pickups, the '57 Classic at the neck favors roundness, warmth, and thick cleans, while the '57 Classic+ at the bridge pushes harder, with more bite for riffs and leads. The push/pull controls multiply the tonal palette: coil splitting for clearer, airier sounds, phase inversion for more hollow and characterful textures, and pure bypass for a more direct and dynamic signal path.
