Essential Information About the Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s Guitar

  • Made in Nashville (USA) with hard case and Gibson accessory kit included.

A "60s" Les Paul: vintage spirit, modern choices where it counts

This Gibson Les Paul Standard 60s is part of the lineage of models that shaped rock history: a Les Paul base with a strong character, inspired by guitars from the early 1960s, while maintaining a contemporary approach to playability and reliability. Made in Nashville, Tennessee, it targets guitarists who want the aesthetic and feel of a Standard from the "60s era," with consistent components and a lacquer finish that is an integral part of the Gibson experience.

Its identity is built around a mahogany body (without weight relief cavities) and a selected maple top highlighted by pronounced Sunburst finishes. It also features iconic Les Paul details: binding, nickel hardware, cream pickguard, and the familiar ergonomics that have stood the test of time.

For which guitarists and styles?

This Les Paul is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an electric guitar with strong personality, capable of being both a riff machine and an expressive lead instrument. The SlimTaper profile is especially appreciated if you like thinner, faster necks while maintaining a good grip for chords and rhythm playing.

In terms of styles, it naturally excels in rock, hard rock, classic rock, blues, and pop. It also shines when looking for a dense, singing sound with sustain: big crunch, solos that "cut through," and thick rhythms that remain clear in a mix.

The sound

The mahogany + maple duo forms the core of the Les Paul sound: mahogany provides a warm foundation, rich mids, and a sense of generous sustain, while maple adds definition and attack, useful for maintaining precision when overdriven. The absence of weight relief cavities enhances the "solid block" feel: a solid response under the fingers, full notes, and a very musical behavior on sharp attacks.

The two 60s Burstbucker pickups (humbucker format) are designed to evoke Gibson humbuckers from the early 60s. The result: a full, velvety neck pickup perfect for creamy leads and jazzy-blues chords, and a sharper bridge pickup ideal for riffs and solos that cut through. The 3-position toggle switch allows quick shifts from thick to cutting tones, with a very useful middle position for more open rock sounds.

The electronics strongly contribute to the "vintage" vibe: 2 volumes + 2 tones and hand-wired wiring with Orange Drop capacitors. You get a wide palette simply by adjusting the volumes: from thick clean to dynamic crunch, without losing the Les Paul character. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and Aluminum Stop Bar tailpiece also contribute to the sustain and precision feel, while maintaining a typically Gibson touch.

Recommended compatible accessories

To stay true to the original setup, favor a set of electric guitar strings with a 10-46 gauge (equivalent to the supplied gauge). A standard strap (compatible with two strap buttons) and essentials like a tuner and picks perfectly complement the package, especially since the instrument comes with a hard case for transport.
