Gretsch Drums RENOWN MAPLE CHAMPAGNE SPARKLE

Historical Context and Positioning Within the Range

This Gretsch RN2-E823 drum set aligns with the spirit of Gretsch performance-oriented kits: meticulous construction, a distinctive sound identity, and a "player-friendly" approach that prioritizes musicality and consistency. The combination of maple, 30deg bearing edge, and the "Silver Sealer" interior finish aims for a sound that is both modern and true to the brand's signature, offering excellent note clarity and generous dynamics.

Who This Drum Set Is For

With its 22 x 18 bass drum, 12 x 8 tom, and 16 x 14 floor tom, this kit is perfectly suited for intermediate to advanced drummers seeking a versatile and immediately usable set. It excels in rock, pop, funk, blues, and indie, while remaining relevant in more dynamic contexts thanks to its crisp attack and projection. It is also a solid foundation for drummers who frequently play live and want a configuration that is easy to transport, quick to set up, and simple to tune.

Features and Innovations

The design emphasizes stability and efficiency: the Gretsch "302" steel hoops promote reliable tuning retention and precise rimshots, while providing a firm and controlled playing feel. The tom suspension system allows the shell to vibrate more freely, resulting in increased sustain and a more natural resonance. The Gretsch round tom mount on the bass drum and the included simple tom mount enable direct mounting, ideal for a compact, ready-to-play setup. The kit is completed with chrome hardware and Remo heads, ensuring immediate playability right out of the box.

Note: this product is a drum shell pack. Cymbals and hardware (snare stands, hi-hat stands, boom arms, pedals, etc.) are not included.

Sound Characteristics

The 7-ply maple shells are renowned for their balanced signature: deep, rounded lows on the bass drum, present mids that "carry" the groove, and clear highs that maintain precise reading of ghost notes and accents. This wood provides a sensation of warmth and musicality while maintaining good projection, making it a natural choice for many styles.

The 30deg bearing edge enhances attack and definition: the 12" tom offers a responsive rebound and clean sustain, while the 16" floor tom gains fullness without becoming overpowering. The "Silver Sealer" interior finish accentuates punch and clarity by helping the shell reflect energy more efficiently. The result is a sound that tunes easily, remains clear in the mix, and supports both open and more controlled tunings.
