This Jet Baritone combines the comfort and ergonomics of the Jet family while adding the key element of a baritone: a longer scale length that stabilizes low tunings and delivers the sought-after subsonic "grain." This Gretsch is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want to explore lower registers without switching to a bass, or expand their arsenal in the studio and on stage. It is particularly comfortable in modern rock, alternative, stoner, metal (in low tunings), as well as post-rock and "cinematic" atmospheres where depth and ample sustain are sought. The Performance "C" neck profile and 12" / 305 mm radius promote smooth playing: massive chords, pick-driven riffs, back-and-forth runs, and melodies that remain controlled despite the longer string length.

Sound

The combination of chambered mahogany and carved solid maple top provides a very effective balance for a baritone: mahogany brings density and warmth, while maple adds attack and definition, helping the lows stay clear and "tight." The chambered body adds a sense of breathing and a more open resonance than a solid body, without the excessive feedback of a hollow body.

On the amplification side, the PureVolt Twin Six humbuckers deliver a solid output level, with a present low end and beautiful midrange articulation, ideal for palm-muting as well as extended chords. The 3-position selector allows instant switching from the bridge pickup's bite to the neck pickup's roundness, with the middle position offering a balanced mix for wide rhythm parts. Each tone control features a push-pull to split the corresponding pickup: handy for brightening the sound, gaining edge, or layering tracks in recording. Finally, the treble bleed circuit on the volume helps maintain highs and presence when rolling back the gain by hand, very useful for switching from saturated tones to clearer crunch without adjusting the amp.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay true to the original spirit, favor a nickel string set with the same gauge as the factory setup (.013"-.065" / 0.33-1.65 mm). Since the guitar is equipped with standard strap buttons, a standard guitar strap works perfectly for standing play.
