An Electromatic Jet: Gretsch DNA accessible without compromising character
With over 65 years of history in the Jet family, the G5230T Electromatic stands as a particularly serious entry point into the Gretsch universe: a "no-frills" guitar full of personality, retaining vintage aesthetic codes (binding, Neo-Classic inlays, chrome hardware) and an immediately recognizable sonic temperament.
For whom and in which styles?
The G5230T is aimed at the demanding beginner guitarist as well as the intermediate player seeking an inspiring and versatile electric guitar. Its Jet Single-Cut format and Filter'Tron pickups excel in rock, rockabilly, blues, pop, indie, and all rhythm styles that require precision. The Bigsby adds an ideal expressive dimension for subtle vibratos, breathing chords, and singing leads.
The Sound
The sonic foundation comes from the chambered mahogany body: gaining resonance and a "living" feel under the fingers, while maintaining a dense low end. The laminated maple top provides a sharper attack and better clarity, perfectly balancing the warmth of the mahogany. The Black Top Filter'Tron pickups complete the picture with a wide and transparent output: firm lows, responsive mids, and bright highs without harshness, very effective in both clean and crunch tones. On the control side, the combination of individual volumes (neck/bridge), master tone, and master volume (with treble bleed circuit) allows cleaning up the sound on the knob without losing definition.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original feel, opt for a .010-.046 electric string set in nickel-plated steel. For transport, the manufacturer's recommended solutions are the optional G6238FT case and the optional G2164 gig bag (references indicated in the specifications).
