A targeted solution to tame the headstock... without hindering your playing
The FretWedge was designed to address a specific often overlooked spot: the area between the nut and the tuning machines. At this location, unwanted resonances and harmonics can occur, especially when playing with high gain, during recording, or on very articulated parts. By positioning itself directly under the strings, the FretWedge helps achieve a cleaner and more controlled signal.
The winning duo with a FretWrap for total muting
Many guitarists already use a FretWrap to mute string vibrations on the neck. But as soon as you slide it for two-hand techniques, a solo, or a passage requiring more freedom, the headstock becomes active again. The FretWedge stays in place behind the nut while you reposition your FretWrap: the two accessories complement each other for more effective noise reduction without compromising playing comfort.

Questions frequently asked
Is the FretWedge Large suitable for an 8-string guitar?
The Large size measures 53 mm wide and is recommended for 8-string guitars as well as 6-string basses.
How to position a FretWedge behind the nut?
The accessory slips under the strings, just behind the nut, between the nut and the tuning machines. This position reduces harmonics and buzzing from the headstock area.
Can this dampener be used with a FretWrap?
When using a FretWrap on the neck, the FretWedge remains placed behind the nut. The FretWrap can then be moved for two-hand techniques or solos. The attenuation in the headstock area is thus maintained.
What does the FretWedge Headstock String Dampener Large pack contain?
The 2-Pack format includes two Gruvgear FretWedge dampeners in Large size, in grey color.
Is this FretWedge compatible with a bass?
Compatibility is indicated for most guitar and bass headstocks, subject to size verification. The Large size of 53 mm is particularly recommended for 6-string basses.
