Summary of This Method
Designed to recreate the feel of a real band, this "play-along" method immerses you in the heart of shuffle blues through a selection of 8 major tunes. Each piece is designed to work on rhythmic placement, articulation, and the typical shuffle blues groove, while keeping the immediate pleasure of playing in a credible musical context. The sheet music is offered in several keys to accommodate transposing instruments (C, Bb, Eb) and instruments reading bass clef, which facilitates setup in rehearsals as well as ensemble workshops.
The included CD offers, for each song, a full demo track to absorb the interpretation and overall sound, then a playback track to put you in the situation. To refine your work, you can isolate or remove certain parts (piano, bass, saxophone) as needed: play the chord progression with the rhythm section, replace an instrument, or practice taking the lead. The tempo is also adjustable without altering the key, a real plus for progressing cleanly, from slow setup to stage speed.
