Summary of This Method

Designed as a guide to get started with the cajón, this method supports the student from the first movements to performing complete grooves. It provides a clear focus on playing position, producing essential sounds (bass tone and slap), as well as an introduction to reading rhythmic notation, in order to work methodically and consistently.

The rest of the content emphasizes practice, with numerous exercises and a wide selection of ready-to-play grooves. The patterns explore various musical worlds, allowing you to quickly enrich your rhythmic vocabulary and adapt to different contexts: group accompaniment, acoustic playing, or metronome practice. Each groove is an opportunity to strengthen stability, dynamics, and sound quality, while developing hand independence.

At the end of the book, a chapter covers more advanced techniques to go further: pitch modification through foot action, use of brushes, and finger rolls, with dedicated exercises. To facilitate learning, 45 online videos complement the book and illustrate many key points: position, reading, bass and slap exercises, grooves, correction of movement accuracy, foot slides, double and triple finger strokes, brush playing, and much more.
