This sheet music offers a selection of 10 standards from the Modern Jazz Quartet, designed for musicians who want to both learn the themes and develop improvisation in a realistic musical context. Thanks to versions available for Bb, Eb, C instruments and bass clef, it naturally fits ensemble work (combo, jazz workshop, improvisation class) while remaining very effective for individual practice.
The included CD stands out with a progressive approach. For study, each piece has a "split track" including the melody, solo choruses, as well as a removable piano part and a removable bass part. This allows you to isolate your role, work on rhythmic placement, refine your intonation and phrasing, then gradually reintegrate the accompaniment elements.
For playing, each track offers an additional stereo backing track without melody, ideal for positioning yourself as a soloist or lead instrument, while maintaining the energy of a rhythm section. Additional choruses allow you to choose: replay the theme, chain more choruses, or build a longer form to deepen your vocabulary (arpeggios, target notes, rhythmic variations, swing articulation).
