Summary of This Method

The Adult Piano Method Vol. 2 begins with a concise review of the fundamentals covered in the first volume, to start again on solid foundations. The following sections offer step-by-step learning focused on five-finger patterns in C, G, and F major, before gradually guiding the student toward mastering the major scales in these keys. This progressive structure facilitates the assimilation of fingerings, understanding of keys, and development of fluent reading, while keeping achievable goals at each stage.

As in the first book, the method emphasizes carefully crafted and enjoyable music to play: quality solos accompany the introduction of new concepts, with a consistent logic that helps adults gain confidence. These "reward" pieces encourage perseverance and provide a real sense of accomplishment throughout the pages. The student is notably led to approach two great classics of the repertoire, "The Entertainer" and "Für Elise," presented as accessible and rewarding arrangements.

To complement reading and technical work, the book also includes improvisations, "quick licks," sight-reading exercises, as well as targeted advice to improve gesture and sound quality. These elements, scattered throughout the course, maintain musical pleasure while reinforcing newly acquired skills. Finally, the online audio accompaniments, performed by Phillip Keveren, provide a particularly useful listening and playing support for working on rhythm, expression, and timing.
