What Bass Flow Is For
Bass Flow is a processing plug-in specially designed to shape, control, and highlight a bass in a modern mix. It addresses typical issues of electric basses, synth bass, and 808s: lack of clarity on small systems, overwhelming lows, soft attacks, resonances, fret buzz, or conversely, an overly aggressive sound. Whether you work in pop, rock, funk, metal, hip-hop, or electronic music, Bass Flow helps you stabilize the low end while maintaining the groove, dynamics, and personality of the instrument.
Main Features
Bass Character: harmonic character, note by note
The Bass Character module stands out for its dynamic approach: it is a unique two-band equalizer that follows the pitch of the note. You can thus boost or reduce harmonics coherently across the entire range to achieve a more present bass without muddiness, or conversely a rounder tone without losing articulation. This is particularly effective for evening out a line played in multiple positions or to give a more "real" and deeper sonic signature.
Spectral Bass Compressor: targeted multiband compression for the low end
The Spectral Bass Compressor applies multiband compression across six frequency bands, focusing on the low spectrum. This precision allows treatment only where problems occur (resonances, lack of clarity, playing irregularities, fret buzz) without squashing the entire signal. The result: a denser, more stable bass that retains its energy and remains clear in the mix, even when the kick and synths take up space.
Equalizer: surgical and musical EQ
The Equalizer module is designed for precise and emotional sculpting. It features a 5-band equalizer, complemented by two filter bands and an Output Trim control to adjust the level after processing. Thanks to a variety of shapes, you can create space for the bass in the mix, clarify the low mids, enhance attack, or tame an overly dominant area. The optional RTA display facilitates decision-making by directly showing the impact of your adjustments on the spectrum.
Chorus: controlled movement and width
The effects section includes a dedicated Chorus, ideal for adding movement to a bass without losing control. The Detune, Delay, and Mix settings allow you to go from subtle animation to a more pronounced effect, while precisely balancing the processed signal with the dry signal. Perfect for bringing life to a verse bass, thickening a pick line, or enriching a synth bass in a dense arrangement.
Master Control: routing, levels, and integration into your mix
At the heart of Bass Flow, the Master Control section allows you to organize the processing chain with great freedom. You have dedicated controls for input and output levels to maintain a clean gain structure and compare your settings at a constant level. The plug-in also offers a global bypass to instantly mute all processing, as well as independent solo per module to isolate and understand exactly what each stage contributes. You gain speed, precision, and coherence with a workflow designed for production and mixing.

Questions frequently asked
Is Harrison Bass Flow compatible with macOS and Windows?
Compatibility includes macOS Monterey 12, Big Sur 11, and Catalina 10.15, as well as Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit. A system with 8 GB of RAM is recommended.
What plugin formats are available on Mac?
On Mac, the supported formats are AU, VST2, VST3, and AAX Native.
How to control resonances and overpowering low end on a bass?
The Spectral Bass Compressor uses six bands dedicated to controlling the low spectrum. It allows targeting resonances, fret buzz, and irregularities without compressing the entire signal uniformly. This module helps stabilize the bass level in the mix.
Does the equalizer track the notes played on the bass?
The Bass Character module features a two-band equalizer that follows the pitch of the note. Harmonics can thus be boosted or reduced consistently across the register.
Can a chorus be added to a bass with this plugin?
A Chorus section is integrated with Detune, Delay, and Mix controls. The balance between the processed and dry signal can be precisely adjusted.
