Summary of This Score
This edition offers the complete "Piano Sonata in A major, op. post. 120 D 664" by Franz Schubert, an essential sonata in the Romantic piano repertoire. Designed for solo piano, it is intended for pianists wishing to deepen their understanding of Schubert's style: a very present inner singing voice, subtle balance between voices, and a writing that demands as much sound control as musical sensitivity.
Throughout the study, this sonata allows work on legato quality, management of sound layers, and phrase breathing, while developing a clear reading of accompaniments and transitional passages. It is also a valuable score for building a recital, concert, or exam program, thanks to a pianistic writing that is both accessible in spirit and rich in musical detail.
The musicological edition (Paul Mies) emphasizes a careful and reliable presentation of the musical text, making it a good resource for students and teachers alike, as well as for pianists seeking a serious working basis. The hardcover provides real comfort for daily use, particularly appreciated during rehearsals and extended sight-reading sessions.
