A New Generation of Heritage Audio Chassis Designed for Compatibility
With the OST-6, Heritage Audio continues developing its new range of Series 500 enclosures by focusing on a often underestimated studio aspect: power supply quality. In an ecosystem where hundreds of module manufacturers coexist (preamps, equalizers, compressors, saturations, routing tools), electrical stability is not a detail: it determines the reliability, noise level, and behavior of modules over time. The OST-6 adopts a more "pro studio" approach to power distribution to secure the hybrid and evolving configurations typical of the 500 format.
A 6-Slot Chassis for Studios, Home Studios, and Mobile Setups
The OST-6 is aimed at those who want to build a customized processing chain in the 500 format without the bulk of a large chassis. Its 6 slots make it an ideal format for a high-end recording chain (preamp + EQ + compressor), a small mixing control room (EQ and stereo dynamics), or a rack of creative processing. Thanks to its handle and rubber feet, it is also well suited for mobile setups: capturing, recording sessions, or project studios that need to move and reconfigure quickly.
Need integration in a 19-inch rack? The included rack ears are custom designed and their smart design allows for assembly/disassembly in seconds, convenient for switching from desktop use to rack mounting depending on location, session, or studio evolution.
OTS "On Slot": Isolation Per Slot, Diagnostic Indicators, and Sized Power Supply
Dedicated Linear Regulation: Each Module "Lives" on Its Slot
The ON SLOT (OTS) technology relies on state-of-the-art power electronics to manage power supply per slot. Concretely, each slot has its own linear regulation stages: modules are thus isolated from the rest of the chassis and do not share a common regulation, which helps reduce issues sometimes encountered when several very different modules coexist (variable consumption, startup behavior, sensitivity to power supply noise). Modules share the metal enclosure, but the idea is to professionalize power distribution for greater peace of mind daily.
Slot Test Indicators: Instant Control
Each slot includes test indicators located next to the slot connector: red for +16 V and green for -16 V. This detail is a game changer for maintenance and integration: you can quickly visualize the proper state of the power rails, slot by slot, when installing a new module, diagnosing, or changing configuration.
Available Current and Phantom Power: A Solid Base for Demanding Modules
Thanks to OTS, the OST-6 offers a power capacity of up to 400 mA per rail per slot, with a total maximum of 1.6 A per rail (up to 1.8 A non-continuous), depending on which limit is reached first. Phantom power is also provided with a maximum of 140 mA total, useful for modules that require it. The unit operates on a universal voltage 100-240 VAC, adapting to most studio environments and mobile setups.
Regarding construction, the chassis features a RAF Blue Grey finish with a thick steel enclosure and an aluminum front panel, for robust integration in studios or racks and good mechanical durability during repeated handling.

Questions frequently asked
How many 500 series modules can this chassis accommodate?
The 6 slots allow installation of up to 6 500 format modules in the same chassis.
Is the Heritage Audio OST-6 compatible with power-hungry 500 series modules?
Each slot has dedicated linear regulation via ON SLOT (OTS) technology. The capacity reaches 400 mA per rail and per slot, within the overall limit of 1.6 A per rail. Red (+16 V) and green (-16 V) LEDs allow monitoring of the power supply for each slot.
Can it be mounted in a 19-inch rack?
The included rack ears allow mounting in a rack bay with 3 rack units. Their assembly and disassembly are designed to take only a few seconds.
What phantom power is available on this 500 chassis?
Phantom power can deliver up to 140 mA in total. The unit operates on mains from 100 to 240 VAC.
Is this 6-slot chassis suitable for mobile use?
The handle and rubber feet allow standalone setup outside a rack. The enclosure is constructed with thick steel, featuring an aluminum front panel and RAF Blue Grey finish.
