LINEAR 5 MKII: a major evolution of an essential series

With the LINEAR 5 MKII, HK Audio offers a completely redesigned version of the famous LINEAR 5 series, designed for real-world modern sound reinforcement conditions. Made in Germany, this generation emphasizes operational flexibility and system consistency: the addition of a powerful, configurable, and remotely controllable DSP allows integration of the speakers into more complex setups while maintaining a logic of fast and reliable deployment on a daily basis.

The series has also been rethought for handling: the new models are announced as lighter and less bulky than their predecessors, a real advantage for touring bands as well as for professionals who frequently set up and tear down.

The HK Audio L5MKII-110XA targets users who need an active speaker capable of delivering front-of-house coverage or stage monitoring with a high level of control. Its 2-way format, 10" loudspeaker, and directivity (80deg x 60deg) make it a relevant solution for live performances, events, DJs, and corporate setups where clarity and coverage control are essential.

Thanks to its 35 mm pole mount, beveled edge, and rotatable horn, it easily integrates into various configurations: main speaker on stand, fill, angled monitor, or system elements complementing subwoofers.

DSP, networking, and settings: a modern approach to onboard processing

Complete DSP control and quick optimization

One of the central evolutions of the MKII version is the integration of a DSP with a 10-band EQ section and tuning tools designed to adapt to the room, stage, and system. Available controls notably include: limiter, high-pass filter switch, low-pass filter control, delay, polarity inversion, equalization, mute, and input gain management. The goal is clear: enable precise adjustment without multiplying external devices and secure the outcome with protection functions.

Network management via Ethernet

The LINEAR 5 MKII series can be networked via an Ethernet connection (RJ45 / Ethercon), with remote control through dedicated software. This control logic is particularly useful during events: access to settings from the FOH desk, parameter consistency between speakers, and time savings on configuration recalls. HK Audio also plans the possibility to integrate non-DSP speakers into the network to maintain a coherent system approach.

System compatibility and cardioid approach with dedicated subwoofers

To build optimized performance systems, two new subwoofers have been developed for the range, with presets allowing use in cardioid mode. This approach aims to better control low-frequency energy, improve stage comfort, and optimize audience coverage, especially in configurations where low-end control is critical.
