The Marine Band Crossover follows this tradition, capturing the spirit of the Marine Band 1896 while bringing significant improvements for stage and studio use: screwed assembly, better airtightness, and finishes designed for intensive playing.

For Whom and Which Styles?

The Hohner Crossover clearly targets the intermediate to professional musician seeking a responsive, reliable, and versatile diatonic. It excels in blues (expressive bends, plaintive phrasing), but its tuning and projection also make it an excellent choice for rock, soul, jazz, and amplified playing. Its precise tuning facilitates melodic note-by-note playing in various positions, while maintaining full and musical chords.

Sound and Design

Designed to deliver a powerful and well-projected sound, this harmonica relies on meticulous construction: the stability of the bamboo body helps maintain consistent airtightness, ensuring easy response and quick reaction. The brass plates provide a lively timbre and good dynamics, while the stainless steel covers contribute to durability and projection. The SuperGlide coating on the mouthpiece enhances comfort and smoothness, especially appreciated during fast runs and articulation techniques.

Diatonic or Chromatic

A diatonic harmonica is centered on one key (here C ) and naturally favors chords and expressive playing with bends, essential for blues, folk, and country. Conversely, a chromatic harmonica provides access to all notes via a dedicated system, often preferred in jazz and classical music.
