With the AZES40B, Ibanez expands the AZ universe by offering an "Essentials" version: the same idea of a modern, versatile, and easy-to-play guitar, but aimed at quick handling. The AZES series focuses on details that simplify daily life (adjustments, comfort, ergonomics) so that learning remains smooth, motivating, and enjoyable, while retaining a true reserve of sounds to explore different styles.

The Ibanez AZES40B is especially aimed at beginner guitarists who want a "real" evolving guitar, as well as intermediate musicians looking for a versatile and comfortable solid-body. Thanks to its trio of pickups and advanced switching system, it easily covers styles like pop, rock, funk, indie, blues, and even heavier tones on the bridge side. The tremolo-type vibrato also allows expressive effects (light vibrato, subtle dive) while maintaining a familiar feel under the hand.

Sound Character: Balance, Clear Attack, and 9 Pickup Combinations

Its poplar body contributes to a balanced response, with good thickness in the low mids and a sharp attack, helping to achieve full sounds without losing definition. The maple neck provides stability and a bright, dynamic side, while the jatoba fretboard enhances a rich midrange and clear highs, useful for keeping chords readable and riffs articulated.

The Essentials / S-S-H Pickup configuration is designed to cover a wide range of situations: the single coils offer clarity and precision for arpeggios, funky rhythms, or "clean" sounds, while the bridge humbucker delivers more output level and body for crunch and distortion. The highlight is the dyna-MIX9 with Alter Switch: you instantly switch between different wiring logics, including single/double coil modes and a combination capable of simulating a humbucker tone from two singles. Result: one guitar to explore many "voicings" without being limited to the classic 5 positions.
