Essential Information About the Ibanez EHB1005MS Bass

  • Ultra-ergonomic headless design: natural balance sitting/standing, contoured and beveled body for immediate comfort.

  • Multi-scale 35"-33" / 889-838 mm: tighter low B string and smooth playing feel across the entire neck.

  • Bartolini BH2 pickups + 3-band Vari-Mid EQ: very wide tonal palette, from warm round to modern precise, with EQ bypass for passive playing.

  • Stage-ready hardware: MR5HS bridge with wide intonation range, Schaller S-Lock strap pins, locking Neutrik jack, included gig bag.

The EHB Series: Ibanez's "Total Ergonomics" Approach

With the EHB range, Ibanez pushes the idea of a modern bass designed for the musician: headless format, chambered body, optimized contours, and easy access to the upper frets thanks to rear cutaways. The EHB1005MS fits into this "performance & comfort" philosophy by combining a lightweight, perfectly balanced instrument with a multi-scale design tailored for precision and low-end stability.

For Which Bassists and Styles?

The EHB1005MS is aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists who want a modern, versatile instrument that is particularly comfortable during long sessions. It excels in rock, metal, fusion, funk, gospel, and pop, notably thanks to its very defined low B and electronics capable of shifting from a warm, organic sound to a sharper, more articulated attack.

Tone

The American Basswood body provides a natural balance and even response, with clear mids and clean lows, ideal for a 5-string bass. The 5-piece roasted maple/walnut neck promotes a clear attack and stable sustain, while the stainless steel frets enhance precision and brightness in the upper spectrum. The multi-scale 35"-33" / 889-838 mm design contributes to a tighter, more "alive" low end while maintaining a comfortable feel on the higher strings.

On the electronics side, the Bartolini BH2 (humbucker) pickups deliver a warm and balanced response, with tighter lows and more present mids. The 3-band Vari-Mid EQ allows you to select the mid frequency to precisely shape your place in the mix. The EQ bypass enables passive operation, with tone controlled via the treble potentiometer when the EQ is bypassed.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original string tension and balance, you can stick with D'Addario EXL1705SL strings (gauges .045 .065 .080 .100 .130). Since the Schaller S-Lock strap pins are already installed, a strap equipped (or adaptable) to this standard will ensure reliable hold both in rehearsal and on stage.
