Born from the collaboration between Ibanez and blues prodigy Josh Smith, the FLATV2 condenses a vintage "hot-rod" heritage with modern ergonomics. It follows the line of versatile single-cut guitars, capable of handling sessions, tours, and studio recordings with exemplary reliability.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Ideal for intermediate to expert guitarists, the FLATV2 excels in blues, country, jazz, and roots rock. The 3-position selector and H-S pickup configuration offer a palette ranging from precise twang to round, singing leads, with immediate control via effective volume and tone knobs.
The Sound
The FLAT5 neck humbucker delivers silky lows and generous mids, perfect for expressive choruses. The single coil bridge pickup, based on a blend of Alnico magnets, provides the expected attack, bite, and definition. In the middle position, the combination produces a scooped texture, very responsive to both fingerstyle and pick playing. The alder body balances warmth and clarity, while the 25.5" / 648 mm scale length and Gotoh F1803 bridge promote sustain and stable bends. The bone nut and Gotoh tuners lock tuning even during intense dynamics.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
Maintain the original response and tension with a set of 10-46 gauge strings like D'Addario EXL110. For stage and studio, add a quality 6.35 mm jack cable (straight or angled) and a standard guitar stand to secure the instrument between takes. A 6-string electric guitar capo suitable for a radius of about 10" will fit perfectly.
