Essential Information About the Ibanez GB10SE George Benson Signature Guitar

  • Signature electric archtop in a comfortable format, designed for precision and elegance in jazz playing.

  • Spruce and maple combination: clear attack, defined mids, and tight lows, with beautiful acoustic projection.

  • Two GB special Alnico humbuckers: warmth, articulation, and balance, from soft comping to singing solo lines.

  • Gold hardware + included hard case: a guitar ready for the stage and travel.

An Iconic Signature in the Spirit of Ibanez Archtops

The GB10SE continues the lineage of Ibanez electric archtops dedicated to jazz, with a "signature" approach designed to meet the demands of nuanced playing: controlled dynamics, quick response, and comfort across the entire neck. Its size, finishes, and set-in neck construction make it an instrument crafted for musicians seeking a true archtop personality without compromising playability.

Who Is This Ibanez Archtop For?

This Ibanez George Benson Signature is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists looking for an expressive electric archtop. It excels in jazz (bop, swing, modern jazz), but is also well suited for blues, soul, and any context where rich chords, clean attack, and a round tone that remains clear in the mix are desired.

The Sound

Its archtop construction with a spruce top provides precise attack and good resonance, while the maple back and sides tighten the low end and enhance midrange definition, very useful for jazz voicings. The ebony fingerboard emphasizes quick response and clarity in the highs, with rich sustain and clear note-to-note articulation. On the electronics side, the two passive GB special (Alnico) humbuckers offer natural warmth and a silky high end, with excellent control thanks to the 3-position selector switch (neck, combined, bridge). The separate volume and tone controls for each pickup allow fine blending and brightness adjustment, from the soft "neck" sound to the controlled bite of the bridge pickup.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel and balance, favor a string set with gauges .011 to .050 (replacement set with the same gauge). A standard strap is also suitable for standing play, and the included hard case remains the ideal solution to protect the body during transport.
