GIO SR: the SR spirit, accessible version

The GSR186 fits within the GIO philosophy: offering Ibanez playability and consistent build quality in a more affordable format, without compromising the SR DNA of speed, comfort, and versatility.

For whom, and for which styles?

The Ibanez GSR186 targets beginner to intermediate bassists who want to move up to a 6-string bass (or access it directly) with a stable and easy-to-handle instrument. Its extended range and pair of humbuckers suit rock, metal, modern funk, gospel, fusion, and arrangements requiring higher lines, chords, or tapping.

The sound

The okoumé body promotes a clear and solid output, with a fairly lively response and good balance to remain clear across 6 strings. The maple neck provides stability and a brighter attack, while the purpleheart fingerboard enhances precision and definition, useful for keeping notes clear in the upper spectrum. On the amplification side, the Dynamix H pickups (humbuckers) deliver a generous output level, with dense lows and present mids. The passive electronics and 2 volumes + 1 tone control prioritize efficiency: blend the two pickups to adjust the sound width, then fine-tune the brightness with the tone control.
