The GSR205PC: The SR Spirit from Ibanez in GIO Version
For decades, the SR series has been a benchmark for bassists seeking ergonomics and modernity. The GSR205PC belongs to the Ibanez GIO line: a more accessible approach that retains the SR DNA (quick playability, efficient electronics, refined look) while maintaining strict manufacturing standards.
For Which Bassist and Styles?
This 5-string electric bass is especially aimed at ambitious beginners and intermediate players who want to switch to 5 strings without struggling with an overly bulky neck. It is well suited for rock, metal, funk, pop, and contemporary music where the low B string adds depth, particularly for fingerstyle or pick playing.
Sound
The GSR205PC combines a okoumé body (balanced response, good lows, present mids) with a PB Canvas Art Grain top that provides a distinctive aesthetic. The Dynamix H pickups (humbuckers) deliver a dense sound, with a solid low-end foundation and strong attack. The active electronics featuring the Phat II allow quick bass enhancement to reinforce punch, useful both live and in rehearsal, especially when playing the 5th string.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
For transport, Ibanez recommends compatibility with the MB300C case and the IBB540-BK gig bag. The bass uses a 9V battery for the active electronics: carrying a spare battery in the gig bag is highly advised.
