A Signature Designed for Musicality and Versatility at Ibanez
Developed around Gerald Veasley's requirements, the GVB1006 emphasizes ergonomics, balance, and a consistent response across the entire neck. The "signature" approach goes beyond aesthetics: it aims for an inspiring instrument capable of moving from a warm, round register to sharper attacks while remaining clear in a mix.
Who the GVB1006 Excels For and In Which Styles
This bass is mainly aimed at intermediate to expert musicians seeking an expressive and precise 6-string, especially for chord playing, nuanced groove, and extended lines. It is particularly comfortable in jazz, funk, fusion, R&B, gospel, but its tonal palette also suits studio contexts where definition and fine EQ are essential.
The Sound
The combination of a alder body and figured maple top promotes an effective balance: present lows, clear mids, and a brighter attack when playing fingerstyle or with dynamics. The MR4 bridge with independent saddles (Mono-Rail type) improves vibration transfer and limits string interaction, enhancing note separation and sustain stability.
On the electronics side, the Bartolini P45C-B (neck) and P45C-T (bridge) provide a musical passive foundation, then the Aguilar OBP-3 preamp offers a very effective 3-band EQ: bass centered at 40 Hz, treble at 6.5 kHz, and mids switchable via push/pull between 400 Hz and 800 Hz. Ideal for shifting from a full low-mid (400 Hz) to a more biting and articulate presence (800 Hz), depending on playing style and amp.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
A hard case is included. To complete your setup without compatibility issues, you can add a bass strap, a tuner, and a guitar/bass stand (universal accessories).
