A Signature Designed for Demands and Musicality
The KIKO100 fits within Ibanez's performance-oriented signature guitars: an instrument designed to meet technical, fast, and expressive playing while remaining musical in more nuanced registers. The luthiery choices, deep access to the upper frets, and "Special Wiring" electronics aim for a stage and studio guitar capable of covering modern sounds without losing definition.
For Which Guitarists and Styles?
This electric guitar is mainly aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a fast neck, comfortable access to high frets, and a wide palette of sounds. It excels in metal, modern rock, jazz fusion, and shred, but remains comfortable when articulating clear chords, tight rhythms, and singing solos with good dynamic control.
Sound
The combination of alder (body) and flamed maple (top) provides a very usable balance: clean lows, present mids, and a bright attack that helps fast playing stay clear. The 5-piece maple/walnut neck enhances stability and clarity, with a more "percussive" and precise response.
Regarding pickups, the original DiMarzio KIKO in HSH configuration offers a modern signature: medium-output humbuckers with balanced response for dense rhythms and defined leads, and a central single coil warmer than a vintage single coil to retain body in intermediate positions. The push/pull (coil tap) and 5-position selector multiply textures, from full and tight tones to sharper and airier attacks, without sacrificing volume balance between positions.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original feel, a set of D'Addario EXL110 strings with gauges .010/.013/.017/.026/.036/.046 is a perfectly suitable choice. A 6.35 mm jack instrument cable will also fit the angled output jack. A hard case is included.
