A Modern Signature in Ibanez's AE DNA

The MRC10 fits within the contemporary approach of Ibanez's AE series: a folk guitar designed for stage and studio, with luthiery focused on projection and rock-solid tuning stability. Its specifications emphasize responsiveness, precision, and high-end electro-acoustic features, ideal for current styles where touch sensitivity and nuances matter as much as power.

For Which Musicians and Styles?

Intended for intermediate to expert guitarists, the Ibanez MRC10 proves especially inspiring for modern fingerstyle, folk, pop, vocal accompaniment, and percussive arrangements. Its quick response and clarity in open chords also make it an excellent partner for pick playing, delivering dynamic rhythms that remain clear even when played aggressively.

Sound Characteristics

The solid Sitka spruce top provides a sharp attack, airy highs, and a wide dynamic range: perfect for highlighting harmonics, ghost notes, and right-hand variations. The pau ferro back and sides reinforce the low end while maintaining a present midrange and precise highs, helping the guitar "cut through" a mix. The X-M bracing, combined with the AE body shape, promotes projection and immediate response, with long sustain useful for picking and melodies. The Macassar ebony fingerboard and bridge add definition and crisp articulation, especially on percussive attacks.

On the amplification side, the Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend system combines a soundhole humbucker and a flexible cardioid microphone. The Mic/Pickup Blend knob allows quick balancing between the magnetic pickup's precision and the condenser mic's airiness, while the bass boost/cut switch helps control low frequencies depending on the room, PA system, and stage volume.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To effectively protect the instrument, the Ibanez FS40DA hard case is the recommended model. To stay close to the original string gauge, opt for phosphor bronze 12-53 strings (like the factory set). Finally, a folk guitar humidifier is a wise choice to preserve the stability of a solid top, especially during dry periods.
