With its 5-string fretless format and long scale, the SDGB1-DMT is primarily aimed at intermediate to expert bassists seeking an expressive and precise instrument. It excels in extreme metal, thrash, death, prog, but also in fusion and jazz thanks to its dynamic range and the ability to shape the mid frequencies. The fretless fingerboard invites singing playing, controlled vibratos, and clean glissandos.

The Sound

The neck-through construction promotes a consistent response across the entire range, with a beautiful sustain continuity, especially appreciated on fretless. The combination of flamed maple top and ash/okoumé body provides attack, definition, and well-controlled lows. The Nordstrand Big Single pickups deliver a wide and present sound, very clear in a dense mix, while the 3-band Vari-mid EQ allows precise spectrum adjustment, especially in the midrange area to switch from a biting tone to a rounder register. The EQ bypass is ideal for quickly switching to a more direct approach, with a passive tone control on the treble potentiometer.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

For transport and protection, the manufacturer recommends the MRB350C case or the IBB540-BK gig bag. As replacements, the original gauge corresponds to strings .045/.065/.080/.100/.130, with a specified set of D'Addario NYXL45130SL.
