Thanks to its long 34" / 864 mm scale length, 16.5 mm string spacing, and very comprehensive active electronics, this 6-string is especially suited for intermediate to expert bassists who want a bass that is both comfortable and highly adaptable. It excels in fusion, modern metal, gospel, prog, R&B, and any situation where precision, attack, and midrange control make the difference.

The Sound

The combination of a flamed maple top and African mahogany body provides a very musical balance: definition and snap in the attack, with full low-mids and nice depth. The Nordstrand Big Break pickups offer a wide range, with solid lows, clear mids, and clean highs-ideal for switching from a modern, articulate sound to rounder textures. The 3-band EQ allows quick sculpting, while the bypass provides a more direct alternative, with passive tone control on the treble potentiometer. The 3-position mid frequency selector helps instantly find the frequency range that "cuts" through a mix or, conversely, a more subdued foundation.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

This bass comes with a gig bag, and Ibanez recommends the MRB500C case, which fits the instrument's format. A 9V battery is required for the active electronics.
