A Bass Workshop Designed to Push the Standards

For over 40 years, Ibanez has been developing basses that break away from traditional designs. The Bass Workshop series embodies this spirit: offering instruments with targeted design and technical solutions, crafted to meet the specific needs of demanding bassists. The SRMS725-BCM fully embraces this approach with its multi-scale design, often surprising at first glance but very natural once in hand.

For Which Bassists and Styles?

The SRMS725-BCM is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists seeking a modern, stable, and versatile 5-string. The multi-scale provides a firmer and clearer B low, ideal for demanding tunings and pick playing. It excels in rock, metal, fusion, modern funk, and "gospel/prog" contexts where precision, dynamics, and tonal breadth are essential.

Sound Characteristics

The Okoumé body promotes a balanced response, with present lows and warm low-mids, without weighing down the attack. The 5-piece maple/walnut neck enhances stability and adds clarity, while the Panga Panga fingerboard delivers bite and excellent definition in the mids, very useful for standing out in a dense mix.

On the electronics side, the Fishman Fluence pickups offer a modern, quiet, and precise sound. The 3-position voice selector allows quick shifts from a fuller character to sharper textures. The Single Coil mode (push/pull) provides a finer attack and better note separation for slap or articulated lines. Finally, the 3-band active EQ helps sculpt the tone with finesse (bass, mid, treble), from deep roundness to the sharpest snap.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay as close as possible to the original specifications, you can opt for D'Addario EXL170-5SL strings with gauges .045/.065/.080/.100/.130. For transport, the manufacturer's recommended references are the MRB500C case and the IBB540-BK gig bag. The active electronics also require 1 x 9V battery.
