ARC Studio+: ARC X acoustic correction expands its scope

Introduced in 2024, ARC Studio was designed to simplify the integration of acoustic correction in a studio. Rather than loading calibration software onto a DAW's master bus, this hardware unit sits directly between the audio interface and the monitoring speakers. Correction therefore remains active at all times, whatever the source being monitored.

With ARC Studio+, IK Multimedia takes this concept further by addressing an essential requirement of modern studios: subwoofer integration. This version adds a dedicated subwoofer output, automatic 2.1 system management and greater recall flexibility. It is therefore aimed at users who want to maintain consistent, accurate monitoring that is immediately ready for everyday use.

Reference monitoring for mixing, mastering and production

IK Multimedia ARC Studio+ is designed for demanding home studios, post-production control rooms, mixing studios and mastering spaces that have to contend with imperfect acoustics. Low-frequency resonances, speaker-placement nulls, early reflections and frequency-response imbalances can all distort mixing decisions.

Powered by the ARC X engine, the processor analyzes your monitoring system and room in order to compensate for peaks, cancellations, time-domain anomalies and spectral irregularities. The result is more neutral, more intelligible reproduction, helping you judge the low end, tonal balance, stereo width and depth of a mix with greater confidence.

Installed after your audio interface, ARC Studio+ corrects all audio passing through it: sessions in your production software, reference playback, streaming, computer audio or an optical digital source. Its near-zero latency allows you to use it without disrupting your workflow, including during recording sessions or real-time monitoring.

More comprehensive calibration, designed for 2.1 setups

A subwoofer finally integrated into the correction process

ARC Studio+'s major new feature is its ability to directly manage a stereo system with a subwoofer. The unit automatically detects the subwoofer, adapts the stereo or 2.1 routing, then aligns the level and phase to improve consistency between the main speakers and the subwoofer.

Crossover filtering is also optimized automatically. This function limits overlaps or energy gaps around the crossover frequency, an area that is often challenging in 2.1 setups. You get a tighter, more even low end that translates more easily to other monitoring systems.

Multipoint measurement and computer-free operation

ARC X calibration is based on multipoint measurements taken at 1, 3, 7 or 21 positions. This approach takes into account not only the central listening position, but also the actual working area around the console. The dedicated measurement microphone input simplifies connections and contributes to a faster procedure.

Standalone mode is a major asset for permanent studio installations. It allows you to perform calibration without a computer, then store up to three presets accessible from the front panel. Each profile retains the applied correction, routing, subwoofer status and input selection, allowing you to quickly switch from one monitoring configuration to another.

Transparent conversion and expanded studio integration

Designed to remain discreet in the audio chain, ARC Studio+ features high-dynamic-range, ultra-low-distortion converters. Its balanced XLR/TRS combo inputs and balanced XLR outputs ensure easy integration with most professional audio interfaces and monitoring controllers.

The optical S/PDIF inputs and outputs allow you to insert the processor into a compatible digital chain without additional analog-to-digital or digital-to-analog conversion. Its USB-C connection provides advanced computer control and also allows the unit to be used as an audio playback interface.
