What Trash 2 Is For

Trash 2 is a multiband distortion plug-in designed to add character, density, and a unique sonic signature to your tracks. It is suitable for both mixing and sound design: thickening a bass, adding bite to a snare, dirtying a vocal in a controlled way, transforming a synth into an aggressive texture, or creating cinematic effects rich in movement. Thanks to its frequency band approach, you can saturate only the lows to enhance impact, excite the mids to improve presence, or treat the highs to add grit, all while preserving signal clarity.

In electronic, rock, hip-hop, or scoring production contexts, Trash 2 becomes a full-fledged creative tool. It allows you to go from subtle "warmth" treatments to sound destruction effects, while maintaining control logic (modules, order, modulation, output). It is an effective ally to make a source stand out in the mix, create buildups, transitions, or give a coherent identity to a full drum kit.

Main Features

Multiband distortion up to 3 bands

The core of Trash 2 is based on separate distortion processing by frequency bands, with adjustable crossover points. This architecture allows applying different characters depending on the spectral zone: tight saturation in the lows, controlled aggressiveness in the mids, or lighter grit in the highs. The result: you maintain the balance and energy of the signal while gaining impact, presence, and texture.

Trash module and morphing via XY pad

The Trash module offers a creative-oriented distortion concept, with an XY pad allowing crossfading between 4 selected algorithms. You can thus evolve the timbre in real time (automation, performances, transitions) or quickly find a "sweet spot" between several colors. The module includes a selection of over 60 presets to start fast and explore varied sounds, from soft drive to massive crunch.

Convolve module: spaces, frequency responses, and custom IRs

Convolve lets you reshape acoustics and frequency response with over 300 room emulations. This module is not limited to ambiance: it can be used to color, filter, and texture the signal, adding a more organic or, conversely, experimental signature. A custom IR loader is also available to use your own audio files, ideal for creating unique treatments from textures, resonances, or atypical recordings.

Module order and band routing

Depending on the desired result, the processing order changes everything. The Swap function allows swapping the order of the Trash and Convolve modules per band: saturate before convolution to thicken and widen, or convolve before distortion to emphasize specific resonances and obtain a more pronounced attack. This flexibility improves sound design precision and facilitates mix integration.

Analog filter and modulation

The Scream Filter recreates an analog filter with self-oscillation to generate scream effects and expressive sweeps. To go further, the Envelope Follower allows modulating the Trash module and Scream filter following the signal dynamics: perfect for achieving distortion that "breathes," reactive variations on drums, or rhythmic movements without complex programming.

Level control, Randomize, and preset library

Trash 2 integrates an output module with intelligent automatic gain and limiter to maintain consistent levels during A/B comparisons and avoid unwanted peaks. The Randomize function speeds up exploration by randomly selecting presets and XY pad positions of the Trash and Convolve modules, an ideal approach to find happy accidents and unexpected textures. The interface remains designed for speed, with quick access to all parameters and many presets for immediate startup.
