Essential Information About the Jackson American Series Soloist SL2 DX Satin Black Guitar

  • Made in USA with neck-through construction in 3-piece maple with graphite reinforcements for top-notch stability and sustain

  • Ebony fingerboard with a 12"-16" compound radius, "rolled" edges, 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, and inverted mother-of-pearl Sharkfin inlays

  • Modern versatility thanks to the duo of Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 (bridge) and Seymour Duncan '59 SH-1N (neck) pickups with a 5-position selector switch

  • Floyd Rose 1500 Series double-locking tremolo, Gotoh MG-T locking tuners, and Dunlop dual-locking strap buttons for solid tuning stability even under heavy use

A High-End Soloist in the Jackson "Performance" Spirit

The Soloist is a Jackson benchmark designed for speed, precision, and modern setups. This American Series Soloist SL2 DX stands as a premium version aimed at stage and studio use: satin finishes, refined ergonomics, full access to the upper frets, and components built to handle demanding styles, from heavy riffs to the most technical passages.

Who Is It For, and What Styles?

This electric guitar is intended for intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a fast, stable instrument ready for the stage. Its Jackson Speed Neck profile, 24 frets, and Floyd Rose make it an excellent choice for metal, hard rock, shred, and fusion, while remaining very comfortable in modern rock thanks to the coil combinations offered by the 5-position selector switch.

Sound Characteristics

Alder provides a balanced foundation with clear mids and good dynamics, while the 3-piece maple neck-through construction promotes long sustain and even response across the entire neck. The ebony fingerboard enhances attack and precision, ideal for tight palm-muting and fast runs. On pickups, the Seymour Duncan JB at the bridge delivers high output, rich harmonics, and sharp highs, while the '59 at the neck offers warmth and clarity. The 5-position selector adds finer textures through coil combinations, perfect for switching between aggressive rhythm, singing leads, and more articulated tones.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel, favor a nickel plated steel string set in gauge 09-42 (or equivalent) suited to the vibrato setup and your tuning.
