Jeff Loomis x Jackson: A Signature Designed for Extreme Precision
A reference in technical and progressive metal, Jeff Loomis collaborates with Jackson for a Pro Series Soloist built for both stage and studio. The SL7 HT retains the Soloist DNA (refined ergonomics, uncompromised upper fret access) and extends it with a long scale for extended tuning, while offering the stability of a fixed bridge.
Who Is It For and What Styles?
Ideal for intermediate to expert guitarists in modern metal: prog, djent, technical death, instrumental shred. The 7-string + 26.5" combination ensures tight lows for palm-muted rhythms, while the ebony fingerboard and neck-through construction promote speed and articulation in lead playing.
Sound
The basswood provides balanced mids, enhanced by the sanded swamp ash top which adds attack and definition. The maple neck-through supported by graphite reinforcement maximizes sustain, and the ebony fingerboard adds brightness and immediate response. The Noumenon Alnico 5 humbuckers deliver tight lows, clear mids, and sharp attack. The 3-position selector covers brutal rhythm, articulate crunch, and singing lead tones, while the single volume keeps the signal path short and responsive. The Hipshot string-through bridge enhances intonation and tuning stability.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
Use 7-string nickel-plated strings in gauges .009-.062 (factory setup) to maintain tension and balance. Add a comfortable strap (50 mm width or wider) and a clip-on tuner for quick tuning changes on stage. A microfiber cloth will help preserve the satin black finish and ebony fingerboard.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Jackson Soloist SL7 Pro Jeff Loomis suitable for low tunings?
The 26.5-inch (673 mm) scale length and the original .009-.062 strings provide tension suitable for extended range 7-string tunings. The Hipshot fixed string-through-body bridge ensures stable intonation.
What pickups equip this 7-string guitar?
Two Seymour Duncan Jeff Loomis Signature Noumenon humbuckers with Alnico 5 magnets are installed, one in the neck position and one in the bridge position. The 3-way selector switch gives access to the bridge pickup, both pickups together, or the neck pickup. A single volume control completes the passive electronics.
Is the neck suitable for fast playing?
The 3-piece maple neck-through construction, reinforced with graphite, combines 24 jumbo frets with an ebony fingerboard for a direct response.
What type of bridge and tuners are mounted?
A fixed Hipshot 7-bridge .175 with string-through-body design is paired with locking Jackson tuners with oil bath. Locking strap buttons are also provided.
What markers facilitate playing on stage?
The Luminlay side markers remain visible in low-light conditions, while the mother-of-pearl Sharkfin inlays mark the ebony fingerboard.
