The Series 3 evolves to deliver even more accessible reference monitoring
The JBL 306P MkIII builds on the Series 3 line, a range of studio monitors designed to provide reliable reference monitoring for home studios, post-production control rooms and modern creative spaces. Its mid-sized format offers an excellent compromise between the compactness of a 5-inch monitor and the scale of an 8-inch model.
This third generation retains the fundamentals behind the series’ success: balanced reproduction, a wide stereo image and active amplification precisely calibrated for each loudspeaker. The 306P MkIII therefore prioritizes an analytical presentation of the mix, without artificially exaggerating the lows or highs.
A versatile active monitor for producing, mixing and creating
The JBL 306P MkIII is aimed at producers, beatmakers, musicians, sound engineers and content creators looking for a nearfield monitor capable of revealing the essential details of an arrangement. It is equally suited to building a beat, editing vocals, mixing virtual instruments, sound design or video editing.
Thanks to its 16.5 cm woofer, it delivers more low-end body than a more compact model. Kick drums, bass lines and synth pads gain clarity, while remaining sufficiently controlled for working at a reasonable distance in a treated or semi-treated room.
To create a coherent stereo monitoring setup, use two JBL 306P MkIII monitors, positioned at ear height and angled towards the listening position. Their controlled directivity helps maintain a precise image, even when making small movements in front of the workstation.

Image Control waveguide: stereo image precision
The soft-dome tweeter is integrated into the JBL Image Control waveguide. This architecture promotes wide, even dispersion of high frequencies, making it easier to position panned elements, reverb, transients and background elements. The result is a more stable soundstage, which is particularly useful for making reliable mixing decisions.
Extended low end and Slip Stream port
The 16.5 cm woofer works with a Slip Stream bass-reflex port designed to smooth airflow. This solution contributes to a deep, better-controlled low-frequency response while reducing airflow noise as the level increases. The 306P MkIII therefore makes it easier to accurately assess the impact of a kick drum, the weight of an electric bass or the energy of an electronic production.
112 W bi-amplification and active crossover
Each transducer has its own 56 W Class D amplifier. This bi-amplification provides appropriately matched power for both the woofer and tweeter, with comfortable headroom and more precise separation between frequency ranges. The fourth-order Linkwitz-Riley crossover, set at 1425 Hz, helps preserve coherence between the low, mid and high frequencies.
Adjustments to better suit your room
A monitor is never listened to in isolation: proximity to a wall, desk or corner can artificially boost low frequencies. The JBL 306P MkIII features a Boundary EQ setting that attenuates the low end around 50 Hz depending on its placement. The HF Trim selector adjusts the high-frequency level to adapt monitoring to the acoustics of your space.
The balanced XLR and TRS jack connectivity makes it easy to integrate the monitor with an audio interface, mixing console or monitoring controller. An input sensitivity selector lets you optimize the input level according to the source being used, whether it is professional line-level equipment or a lower-level device.
