Essential Information About the Jet Guitars JPB 300 Green Bass

  • Roasted woods (poplar for the body, Canadian maple for the neck) for better stability and a more consistent response.

  • Two PB-style pickups controlled by 2 volume knobs + 1 tone knob: from massive lows to more defined attacks.

  • Modern comfort with a Modern C neck profile and a rosewood fingerboard with a 12" / 305 mm radius.

  • Bold vintage look: vintage-style chrome tuners and a "red tortoise" pickguard on a green finish.

A Jet JPB: The "PB" Spirit Revisited with a Contemporary Approach

The Jet Guitars JPB 300 belongs to a family of instruments designed to recapture the ergonomics and efficiency of a "PB" style bass while incorporating manufacturing choices focused on comfort and reliability. Here, the use of roasted woods is not just an aesthetic argument: it aims to provide a more "ready to play" feel, with a neck behavior that is more consistent against temperature and humidity variations. The result is a versatile bass, designed to handle both rehearsals and stage performances with immediate playability.

Who Is the JPB 300 For, and Which Styles Does It Excel In?

With its long scale 34" / 864 mm scale length, 20 frets, and simple electronics, the JPB 300 is suitable both for the serious beginner seeking a stable and easy-to-adjust instrument and the intermediate bassist looking for an effective bass for rehearsals, demo recordings, or gigs. The Modern C neck profile promotes a relaxed left hand, while the rosewood fingerboard provides a pleasant feel for fingerstyle, pick playing, or moderate slap techniques.

In terms of styles, this bass is comfortable whenever a solid foundation is needed: rock, pop, funk, blues, punk, indie, variety, and many band contexts where the bass must remain clear in the mix. The two volume controls allow quick adjustment of the balance between pickups to shift from a round low end to a more articulated sound without complicating playability.

Punchy and Controllable Tone: Woods, Pickups, and Electronics

The Jet Guitars JPB 300 Green combines a roasted poplar body with a roasted Canadian maple neck and a rosewood fingerboard. Poplar is appreciated for its balanced response, with a clean low register and a useful midrange that stands out in a band setting. Roasting tends to bring a drier, more direct attack feel while promoting better long-term consistency. Roasted maple, often sought after in performance-oriented instruments, contributes to stability and playing precision, while rosewood adds a slight warmth in the high end and a softer tactile sensation under the fingers.

The electronics remain intentionally intuitive: two PB-style pickups feed a circuit with 2 volume controls (one per pickup) and 1 tone control. In practice, this opens up a real palette: the main pickup volume for a broad, punchy base; adding the second pickup to thicken the low mids, increase presence, or refine the attack depending on your amplifier. The tone control allows shifting from a bright and precise sound (ideal with a pick) to a rounder, vintage signature (perfect for fingerstyle or sitting under guitars).

For tuning stability and note sustain, the JPB 300 relies on chrome hardware and a 2-point bridge with 4 saddles, facilitating clear adjustment of action and intonation. The double-action truss rod is a real advantage for adjusting neck relief in both directions, useful if you change string gauge or if your environment varies with the seasons.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

Since this bass is a 4-string long scale 34" / 864 mm model, you can confidently choose a 4-string long scale bass string set (34") when it's time to replace the original set (D'Addario strings). For other accessories (gig bags/cases), compatibility depends on exact dimensions and size: it is best to check internal measurements before purchase.
