Summary of This Method

For the first time, a method, a user guide, and a chord dictionary combined in one volume. The whole is designed as a logical progression: you first learn the essential basics, then apply them on the fretboard, before drawing from a rich and directly usable chord dictionary for accompaniment as well as rhythmic playing.

THE METHOD: lays the foundations with international notation, intervals, triads, and tetrads, then harmonization of major and minor modes. You also work on inversions, chord voicings, extended chords, and omissions, not forgetting the 3 main chord families and powerchords. An excellent section to connect theory and sound, and better choose your harmonic colors according to the context.

THE GUIDE: focuses on daily efficiency: knowledge of the fretboard and the octave rule, reading chord diagrams, understanding the 5 chord shapes and their transposition. Ideal for gaining autonomy, quickly finding a position, and moving a shape while keeping the same chord type.

THE DICTIONARY: gathers major chords (M, M7, 6, 6/9, Add9, M9...), minor chords (m, m7, m7b5, m6, m6/9, m9...), dominant chords (dom7, sus4, 7sus4, sus9, 7#5, 9th, 11th, 13th, diminished 7th...), as well as powerchords and chords including open strings. The whole is complemented by concepts of harmonic progressions, function, and chord usage across all styles to enrich your accompaniments and transitions.

THE CD: allows you to immediately play the chords from the dictionary over 15 playbacks (song and accompaniment, folk, blues, rock, reggae, metal, soul, funk, jazz...). Perfect for working on rhythmic placement, testing different positions of the same chord, and developing your chord vocabulary in a musical context.
