Summary of This Method
An iconic instrument of Hawaiian music, the ukulele has established itself in recent years as an ideal companion to explore a multitude of musical worlds. This method was designed with that spirit: playing the ukulele in all styles while maintaining a simple, progressive, and motivating approach. Throughout the pages, you alternate between exercises and songs to understand the basics of playing, enrich your rhythmic vocabulary, and gain fluency on the instrument.
You will find structured work on rhythms (to accompany with groove), arpeggios (to add depth to your chords), melodies, and picking to develop precision and expressiveness. The goal is clear: learn to simultaneously play melody and accompaniment when necessary, improve the accuracy of your timing, and strengthen the coordination of both hands. The CD and videos support learning by helping you lock in the tempo, refine articulation, and progress with a reliable audio reference.
Regarding repertoire, the "style of the greats" is revisited on the uke, with colors spanning Rock, Blues, Reggae, Pop, and Swing: The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, ZZ Top, ACDC, Eric Clapton, Robert Johnson, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Django Reinhardt, Luiz Bonfa... Enough to fully embrace the uke attitude and build a musical style that is effective and inspired.
