The SUPER JET Series: Jody Jazz DNA Designed for the Stage

Created by Jody Espina, the Jody Jazz brand has established itself with a clear philosophy: to offer high-end saxophone mouthpieces capable of meeting the demands of both professionals and discerning students. Handmade in Savannah (USA) with great attention to detail, Jody Jazz mouthpieces are renowned for their consistency and "free" playing feel. Within the range, the SUPER JET stands out as a mouthpiece oriented towards performance: a decidedly contemporary signature, impressive projection, and the ability to maintain depth to remain versatile in various contexts.

For Which Saxophonist and Styles?

The Jody Jazz SUPER JET for tenor saxophone is primarily aimed at intermediate to advanced saxophonists and stage musicians seeking presence and maximum impact. It is particularly suitable for Smooth Jazz, Rock, and Funk, as well as any situation requiring increased perceived volume and precise attack. If your priority is a very round and mellow sound typical of "classic ballads," it is often more logical to opt for a mouthpiece with a darker character; here, the goal is clearly energy, edge, and efficiency.

Sound and Design

The SUPER JET emphasizes a power edge design: power and projection come from the internal design, while the silver-plated brass provides a clear brightness and very articulate attack. The result is a contemporary timbre with excellent presence and immediate response, useful for fast articulations and phrases that need to remain intelligible at high volume. The brand also highlights meticulous craftsmanship, with hand finishing and a focus on optimal sealing between the mouthpiece and reed to maintain easy response across all registers.

Important point: the shorter tip opening curve influences the playing feel and can facilitate altissimo. In practice, it may be advisable to consider a slightly softer reed than usual, as the vibrating length is shorter. This does not "block" the playing; on the contrary, it is one of the keys to ease in the high register and responsiveness.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

The mouthpiece is delivered with a ligature, a mouthpiece cap, and a pouch : you have everything needed to play and safely transport your mouthpiece right from the start. To get the most out of its powerful character, a set of reeds with close strengths (for example, your usual strength and one strength softer) can help quickly find the best balance between comfort, projection, and control.
