Essential Information About the Kala All Solid Mahogany Waterfall Baritone Ukulele

  • All-solid mahogany construction: richer harmonics, better projection, and an instrument that improves over time.

  • "Waterfall" rounded edges: remarkable comfort against the forearm and chest, ideal for long sessions.

  • Premium finishes: wrap-around fret markers matching the wood, ebony fingerboard and tuning pegs.

  • Careful equipment: Graph Tech NuBone nut and saddle, D'Addario Fluorocarbon strings, padded gig bag included.

The Waterfall Series: A "Modern Classic" at Kala

Designed for musicians who appreciate elegant instruments without ostentation, the Waterfall series has established itself as a contemporary reference thanks to a design that is as pleasing to the eye as it is to play. Its identity is based on softened "Waterfall" edges (rounded and comfortable) and a selection of woods enhanced by refined details. Available in tenor and baritone formats, it aims for a clear balance: high-end lutherie, smooth playability, and a mature sound output, with a finish that highlights the wood.

For Whom and in Which Styles?

This Kala Waterfall baritone is particularly suited for intermediate to advanced musicians seeking an expressive, stable, and precise instrument, equally suitable for accompaniment and playing enriched chords. The baritone format, generally appreciated for its lower register and more "guitar-like" feel (most common baritone tuning: D-G-B-E), fits very well with pop, folk, light jazz, bossa, as well as fingerstyle playing where roundness and note clarity make a difference.

Sound

The all-solid mahogany construction gives this baritone ukulele a warm and balanced tonal signature: dense mids, soft highs, and ample lows, with a very musical "woody" character. Compared to a laminated wood instrument, the all-solid construction responds more finely to playing nuances (light attack, pick dynamics, right-hand variations), with a more natural sustain and a better sense of depth.

The D'Addario Fluorocarbon strings contribute to clarity and perceived intonation, providing a clear attack and a nice balance between precision and warmth. The Graph Tech NuBone nuts (nut and saddle) promote consistent vibration transmission and comfortable tuning and intonation stability, while maintaining a coherent feel across the neck. Finally, the "Waterfall" edges do not change the tone but significantly improve ergonomics: a more relaxed posture often helps better control of attack, resulting in a cleaner and more consistent sound.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To preserve an all-solid instrument, an instrument humidifier (during dry periods) and a microfiber cloth are highly recommended. A clip-on tuner is also a safe and universal choice for the ukulele. Good news: a padded gig bag with logo is already included, ideal for travel and daily protection.
