The "Contour" Version Designed for Comfort and Sonic Character
The Kala Contour series stands out with its distinctive wood combinations (including this all acacia version) and a comfort-oriented approach. It features an all-solid construction, a redesigned hollowed headstock, and lutherie details aimed at making the instrument as enjoyable to play as to listen to, while staying true to Kala's identity.
Who Is It For, and What Styles?
In tenor size, this model is suited for demanding beginners as well as intermediate and advanced players seeking a more spacious and comfortable ukulele. It is particularly well-suited for pop, folk, indie, vocal accompaniment, and fingerstyle playing, offering clear chord definition and melodic lines.
Sound
The solid acacia provides a well-balanced tone: clear highs without harshness, singing mids, and good definition, with controlled projection. The ebony fingerboard enhances precision and tactile response, while the bone nut and saddle promote efficient vibration transfer for richer sustain and a crisper attack. The tenor size generally offers more fullness than a soprano, helping achieve a "fuller" sound in both strumming and picking.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To get the best from this model, a quality tenor ukulele string set is a reliable choice to adjust comfort (tension) and tonal color. With the included gig bag, you can transport the instrument immediately while minimizing shocks and temperature changes during travel.
