A Reliable Choice from Kala: the Satin Mahogany Series
Like the KA-15, Kala's Satin Mahogany series has established itself as a true standard thanks to its traditional design and satin finish. The goal is simple: to offer a reliable, elegant, and consistent instrument capable of standing the test of time while maintaining excellent playability and a warm sonic identity.
For Whom and Which Styles?
This baritone model is aimed both at beginner musicians seeking a stable and pleasant instrument, and at intermediate players who want a lower-pitched ukulele to enrich their accompaniments. It is particularly well-suited for pop, folk, chanson, and chordal playing, with a very natural approach for guitarists (commonly used baritone tuning: "D-G-B-E").
Sound
The mahogany top provides a warm tone, with present mids and a soft attack, ideal for round and musical rhythms. The satin finish gives a "wood" feel under the hand and contributes to a direct response, without the sensation of thick varnish. The GraphTech NuBone nut and saddle pair promotes better vibration transmission: you gain clarity, balance, and intonation across the entire neck.
Thanks to the UK-300TR preamp, this baritone can also be amplified through an amp or PA: practical for stage, rehearsals, or recording, while retaining the woody and warm character typical of mahogany.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To preserve the original feel and response, opt for a set of Aquila Super Nylgut strings for baritone ukulele (same type as the factory setup).
