Drawing inspiration from the California Solid Body UBASS series developed at Kala's lutherie studio in Petaluma (California) since 2011, this Solid Body UBASS offers a more "electric" vision of the UBASS spirit. It embodies the Kala approach: a bass that's easy to take everywhere, yet designed as a true stage and studio instrument, with immediate playability and a strong sonic identity.

This 4-string electric bass is aimed at both beginner bassists seeking a comfortable instrument and intermediate to advanced musicians who want a compact bass for rehearsals, travel, or small gigs. Its short scale facilitates stretches and fast runs while remaining stable enough to work on groove. It adapts particularly well to styles where the rhythmic foundation must stay present: pop, funk, rock, indie, and even R&B depending on your attack and settings.

Sound

With its okoumé body, the Solid Body UBASS offers a balanced response, often appreciated for its warm tone and strong presence in the low-midrange. The maple neck provides precision and attack, while the laurel fingerboard contributes to a natural playing feel and a homogeneous tonal balance. On the amplification side, the passive electronics and Split-Coil pickup (single-coil style) deliver a thick and punchy sound, with dynamics that respond well to the right hand: the harder you dig in, the more the instrument responds, making it an excellent foundation for finding your playing signature.
