A "vintage-meets-modern" dual inspiration in the Keeley spirit

The BLUES DISORDER aligns with Robert Keeley's philosophy: starting from essential classic recipes, then refining everything with a rigorous component selection and an engineer's approach. Since the brand's beginnings in Oklahoma City in the early 2000s, Keeley became known for modifications and rebuilds of effects before offering his own creations. Here, the idea is clear: to bring together two saturation families that have marked pedalboard history into a single pedal, allowing instant switching from a bluesy, open tone to a more pronounced distortion without changing the setup.

For which guitarists, styles, and situations?

The Keeley BLUES DISORDER targets musicians who want a versatile gain pedal : one channel for expressive crunch, another for pushing a riff, solo, or thickening a rhythm part. It suits both beginner guitarists seeking their first "amp-like" sounds and advanced players wanting a reliable foundation for studio and live use.

Regarding styles, it feels at home in blues, classic rock, pop, indie, and anything requiring clear, dynamic saturation. In live contexts, it facilitates texture changes within the same song; in recording, it offers two usable colors to double guitars (broader crunch on one side, tighter drive on the other) and highlight parts without pushing volume.

Features and design approach

Designed as a "2-in-1" saturation pedal, the BLUES DISORDER allows exploration of two complementary gain signatures. The "Blues Breaker" spirit emphasizes transparency, openness, and the feel of a pushed amp, while the distortion section inspired by a more modern classic adds more grit, sustain, and bite. This complementarity makes it an excellent base for building a minimalist pedalboard: a lively base tone plus a more assertive mode for moments that need to stand out in the mix.

Being 100% analog contributes to the playing feel: the pedal naturally responds to attack (pick, fingers), guitar volume variations, and how you "push" your amp's input. Used as a boost, it can also firm up a rhythm part or bring a solo forward, depending on your gain and level settings.

The sound

The BLUES DISORDER offers a palette ranging from fine, grainy breakup to denser drive, with a personality clearly oriented towards "guitar in the amp." On the bluesier side, you get expressive crunch, often more open, ideal for breathing chords and nuanced lines. On the more aggressive side, the grit tightens and sustain increases, helping to hold notes and add body to riffs.

In both cases, the goal is to achieve usable saturation at reasonable volume without losing playing definition. With a simple guitar and a good amp, you easily regain that organic response feeling: playing softer clears the sound; attacking harder makes the saturation sing. A pedal typically made for musicians who want to control their tone "with their fingers," while keeping gain reserve for powerful moments.
