Premiered at the Opéra de Lille on October 15, 2014 by accordionist Vincent Lhermet as part of the 250th anniversary of Jean-Philippe Rameau's death, this work by Florent Motsch offers a contemporary reinterpretation, freely inspired by the harpsichord piece "Le rappel des Oiseaux." From the opening, a fragment is presented and then transformed through a tessitura dilation, like an expanded and recontextualized material. This same fragment returns at the end, with a presentation gradually approaching the original, creating a "recall" effect both musical and mnemonic.
The harmonic construction is based on the idea of a note-pole : the E organizes the framework at the beginning (evoking E minor associated with Rameau's source), before sliding in the central part toward G, a distant reminiscence of a relative polarity. This rise in intensity is accompanied by a register work that narrows then unfolds in a very gradual descent, offering a complete traversal of the instrument's timbres.
Finally, the work links sections with clearly identified and contrasting profiles: dolce e lontano, legato e cantabile, rubato e flessibile, regolare e continuo, leggero e vivo, intenso e sostenuto, then a return to dolce e lontano. An ideal score for the accordionist seeking contemporary, expressive, and structured repertoire, where precision of discourse meets the poetry of timbre.
