A Skyline Inspired by the 44-60 USA Series
The Lakland Skyline 44-60 carries the DNA of the 44-60 USA Series, retaining many key specifications and especially the same sonic character. It features Lakland-style J passive pickups, handmade and precisely wound in the Chicago workshop, to capture the vintage character and ultra-musical response that have made the model renowned.
For Which Bassist and Styles?
This 4-string electric bass is aimed at both intermediate bassists seeking a reliable and versatile instrument, and advanced musicians who want a bass with a familiar feel and an immediately "mix-ready" sound. Its ergonomics (thin neck at the nut) make it very comfortable for funk, pop, rock, soul, blues, and jazz, with excellent articulation for both fingerstyle and pick playing.
The Sound
The two Lakland Vintage J single-coil pickups deliver an open, snappy, and detailed sound, with nice definition in the lows and expressive highs. In the neck position, you get round and warm lows; in the bridge position, the tone is more biting, ideal for cutting through the mix. The ash body generally provides a sharp attack and good presence, while the maple neck contributes to precision and responsiveness. Altogether, this bass offers a very nuanced sound that perfectly responds to right-hand dynamics and slap playing.
