Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

This Signature bell pays tribute to Tito Puente, a major figure in Afro-Cuban music, nicknamed "El Rey del Timbal." It fits within a performance-oriented instrument logic: a model designed to deliver a clear attack and a strong presence in the midrange, with mounting tailored for stage and studio setups.

Who This Drum/Instrument Is For

The Signature Tito Puente bell is aimed at intermediate to advanced percussionists and drummers seeking a clearly identifiable sound for salsa, Latin jazz, mambo, son, tropical music patterns, as well as for pop and funk contexts where a bell must remain audible. It is perfectly suited for timbales setups and racks, as well as hybrid drum-percussion configurations.

Features and Innovations

Its key strength is its patented mounting system : the self-aligning eye bolt facilitates installation and helps achieve stable positioning on 3/8 to 1/2 inch rods. This design ensures reliable use, with quick and consistent mounting, ideal when moving between soundchecks, cymbal changes, and fine adjustments.

Sound Characteristics

This bell stands out with powerful tones and an emphasis on midrange frequencies, enhancing projection and note clarity even within a busy ensemble (congas, timbales, cymbals, brass). Depending on the stick or mallet used and the striking area, one can accentuate attack, body density, or bite, shifting from a sharp playing style to a rounder, more musical presence.
