The essential points about this method
The essential points about this method
- Targeted articulation work: a complete progression dedicated to double and triple tonguing, essential for a light, pearly and agile sound on the flute.
- Musical learning (not just “exercises”): short and effective studies woven throughout the course to avoid an overly dry approach.
- Baroque repertoire in the spotlight: inspiring Allegros (Boismortier, Handel, Quantz, Telemann...) to develop speed, precision and style.
- Playing with others: pieces arranged for two flutes, with an introduction to trios at the end of the book, to develop listening skills and the pleasure of playing together.

Overview of this method
Encouraged by the success of "Rue Traversière 1", composer Sophie Dufeutrelle, Flute Professor at the École Nationale de Musique de Villeurbanne, presents "Rue Traversière 2", a second volume entirely devoted to double and triple tonguing. This articulation technique, essential for achieving greater clarity and speed, is introduced progressively in order to build reliable technique without sacrificing musicality.
Rather than stringing together isolated exercises, the book is based on short, focused studies, followed by a wide selection of lively pieces in which articulation truly comes into its own. Allegros from the Baroque repertoire feature prominently, bringing energy, style and variety to daily practice, while strengthening rhythmic consistency and the precision of attacks.
Another key strength: practice here is not limited to playing alone with a metronome. The pieces are designed for duo performance (two flutes), while the final two pieces open up to trio playing. An excellent way to develop listening skills, ensemble precision and confidence, while rediscovering the essential pleasure of sharing music.
