Summary of This Method

Forty Little Studies for Tenor Trombone brings together a series of easy studies designed to accompany the first months (and early years) of tenor trombone practice. Each study, short and focused, allows concentration on a specific objective while maintaining a musical approach: stabilizing the air, refining the attack, linking notes more smoothly, gaining consistency in dynamics, and strengthening sight-reading.

The progression is particularly suited for beginners thanks to deliberately basic rhythms and accessible keys (up to 4 flats and 3 sharps). This reassuring framework helps develop solid habits: rhythmic placement, cleanliness of slurs and detachés, and building a homogeneous sound on short phrases. It is also an excellent tool to put elementary theory into practice (measures, note values, accidentals, key signatures) directly on the instrument.

Authored by Marcel Galiègue and Jérôme Naulais, two French trombonists awarded a Premier Prix from the Conservatoire de Paris, this method naturally belongs in the lesson bag: to be used alongside a general method, to structure daily practice, or as a collection of short studies to include in warm-ups.
