Légère: a benchmark synthetic reed since the late 1990s
Since 1998, Légère has been developing reeds based on material engineering work, born from the collaboration between Guy Légère (chemist and clarinetist) and Mark Kortschot (composite materials specialist). Made from non-toxic polypropylene, without added fiberglass or other chemicals, they are designed to offer reliable response and consistent acoustic qualities.
For whom and for what use
This reed is intended for bass clarinetists who want to switch to synthetic without sacrificing a sound aesthetic suited to the classical repertoire and playing in orchestras or ensembles. The strength 2.5 corresponds to a balance appreciated for maintaining comfort while retaining control (depending on the mouthpiece and each musician's embouchure).
Sound and design
Thanks to a thicker tip, the tone gains in roundness and depth, with a darker color. The polypropylene, insensitive to humidity, contributes to a stable feel from day to day: the reed does not soak up water, remains consistent, and is particularly practical in rehearsals as well as on stage.
Important: for hygiene reasons, this product is subject to a specific right of withdrawal and cannot be returned, refunded, or exchanged.
