The Légère reeds were born from the meeting of scientific research and instrumental practice. Since 1998, Guy Légère (chemist and clarinetist) and Mark Kortschot (composite materials specialist) have developed an approach aimed at reproducing the acoustic qualities of a cane reed while improving consistency and longevity. The result: a synthetic reed designed to meet the demands of musicians, including in contexts where intonation, stability, and register homogeneity are crucial.
Made from polypropylene, this reed uses a molecular alignment process allowing precise adjustment of stiffness and density. Légère adds no fiberglass or harsh additives, with a material declared non-toxic and suitable for food contact, for worry-free daily use.
